Description
I painted this piece yesterday while thinking about the weight we all bear sometimes - as a society, as individuals, as minority groups, etc. I imagined the lower half of the piece as broken stained glass windows, worn out by the oblong black weight above.
I struggled with capturing the moment in time. Was this a sudden weight that fell onto the stained glass? Or was it a slow grind, wearing it down over time? Or is the weight lifting soon? Will someone repair the stained glass window?
And those two areas of stained glass windows, despite it all, still have light coming through them. The one on the left has slim bands of yellow sunlight, while the one on the right has the orange color of dawn. Hope in the midst of breaking.
